Jul 14 2008 10:58AM EDT. Ridership on Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority's combined services routes continued to climb in June, rising 7.3 percent from a year ago to 1.4 million. Rides included bus, streetcar, para-transit and vanpool services.

Overall bus ridership totaled nearly 989,000 rides in June, up 7 percent from June 2007.
HART's commuter service, which takes riders from suburban areas like Brandon and New Tampa to downtown Tampa and MacDill Air Force Base, grew 29 percent with nearly 26,000 rides in June.

The TECO Line Streetcar System was up 4.1 percent, while para-transit service for people with disabilities grew nearly 10 percent to more than 7,000 rides.
Use of HART's U-Pass service for University of South Florida students, faculty and staff increased 9.3 percent year-to-date.

Vote Solar Volunteer Opportunity at Maroon 5 Concert

Volunteers are needed to help with a fun project. Vote Solar will be the "headlining" non-profit on Maroon 5's summer U.S. tour. There will be Vote Solar banners up around the auditoriums, and the band is going to make a pitch for folks in the audience to check out the Vote Solar booth in the lobby. The Earth Charter Sustainable Business Awards will be during a luncheon on Oct. 10, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Tampa's Vaughn Center. The awards are designed to promote interest in sustainability among local businesses, to recognize those already employing sustainable practices, and to showcase their work as a model for others. As such, the finalists will be videotaped and broadcast to a global audience participating in the Earth Charter Climate Summits on Oct. 11.

Cigar City Magazine Rolls Out West Tampa Issue.

Cigar City Magazine, together with InTown Homes & the West Tampa Chamber of Commerce, will host an exhibition of photographs featuring West Tampa’s historic cigar factories at the West Tampa Center for the Arts. A collection of photographs by renowned architectural photographer, Todd McDonald will be presented and fine art artists from the West Tampa Center for the Arts will open their diverse studios to the public. Kevin So with Next Exit Opening

Reception Opens City of Clearwater Outdoor Art Gallery
