24 International Teachers Visit Hillsborough Youth Collaborative

Community Tampa Bay

How do we engage students more in the classroom?

That’s one of the questions international teachers are addressing in Tampa Bay during a 2 month global education initiative.  Twenty-four international secondary teachers from 12 countries are joining the Hillsborough Youth Collaborative for two weeks.  The teachers are part of the Teaching Excellence And Achievement Program (TEA), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board). The group is also here to practice youth and adult partnerships, explore new methodologies for engaging students in a more participitory classroom setting, and improve cross cultural communication.
